Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line an 8.5 by 4.5 loaf pan with parchment paper.
2
To a large bowl, add molasses, brown sugar and hot/warm water. Whisk together until completely combined. Add sourdough discard and whisk again until combined. Crack the egg and add to the bowl along with melted butter and vanilla extract. Whisk again to combine.
3
To a medium-sized bowl, fluff together all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves and salt. Fluff until combined.
4
Pour the flour mixture on top of the wet/liquid mixture. Whisk together until completely incorporated. The batter will be fairly thin, but uniform. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
5
Bake at 350ºF for 55-60 minutes until loaf is completely baked all the way through. Stick a toothpick into the center of the loaf to check for doneness. If it comes out clean, remove the loaf from the oven. If it has batter on it, let it keep baking another few minutes and test again.
6
Remove the loaf to a baking rack. Whisk together the vanilla glaze. Pour over the warm loaf, covering the entire loaf. Let cool. Slice and enjoy!
