Instructions

Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pan with parchment paper.
Combine chopped dates with 1 tsp baking soda and boiling water. Let soak for 15 minutes.
  • 1 cup Pitted Chopped Dates
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
Cream butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter
    softened
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar

Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
